Profile
Carla Basili is Senior Researcher at the Italian National Research Council and Associate Professor of Methodologies of Scientific Information at Sapienza University in Rome. She has been Associate Professor of Documentation at the Macerata University (1995-2007) and the Lumsa University in Rome (1998-2008), Vice-president of the Italian Association for Advanced Documentation (1998-2004) and Italian delegate in the European Council of Information Associations (ECIA) (1997-2004).
She is currently responsible of the research line: Knowledge Circulation and Scientific Information Policies.
Carla Basili is Co-ordinator and initiator (since 2001) of the European network on Information Literacy and of the European Observatory on Information Literacy Policies and Research (since 2006).
Research interests
Research interests focus on Scientific Information, Information Literacy and Scientific Information Policies.
IPS Project
The IPS project falls within the activities of the research area "Knowledge Circulation and Scientific Information Policies" of the Ceris Institute and aims at analysing the European Scientific Information Space along multiple dimensions and within different disciplinary contexts, with a special focus on Humanities and Social Sciences.
European network on Information Literacy (EnIL)
The European network on Information Literacy (EnIL) aims at opening a discourse on Information Literacy at European level, in order to promote the establishment of a Culture of Information in Europe.
Observatory on Information Literacy in Europe
The European Observatory on IL Policies and Research is an online portal to European policies, research projects and initiatives related to information literacy, with special focus on Higher Education developments.
